myStampBOX CHA: Lovely Houses & Pixel Perfect

Day 3 of new myStampBOX stamps, and we're still going strong with great designs! Today I'm sharing Lovely Houses with you. There are three different houses in this set, all with their own personality. I LOVE working with colored pencils, and these are the perfect match.


I also snuck in two other myStampBOX sets on this design. The background of the large puff of smoke is really a cloud from Wishing You Sunshine. The sentiment is from No Place Like Home. I love mixing and matching old and new stamp sets to get just the right design for my project.

myStampBOX CHA: Warm Tweets & Holiday Monkey

This week I'm sharing projects made with new Winter 2012 CHA release myStampBOX stamps. Here's a card made with the new set called Warm Tweets. These little birdies are adorable and fun to color!

I stamped using Archival ink and went to town coloring with Prismacolor pencils and some Gamsol for blending. I perched them on a "wire" made from twine. First up, Hockey!! Our family LOVES hockey, and we enjoy going to local games. Our council of Boy Scouts here in Indiana holds a Scout Night with the Indiana Ice every year where the boys are encouraged to wear their uniforms. After the game they are given a chance to walk down onto the ice and shoot some pucks, how exciting! This year both of my boys went, and it was a blast of a night. They made sure I got a photo of the Ice's mascot Big-E-Foot, too. You can see all the interesting patterns on the new papers and stickers. I mixed in an awesome Contemporary Corner Brad and Bubble Brads as well. (Click on any photo for a closer look.)

Here's a quick look at one area of the layout. One hockey stick is printed on the patterned paper. I layered the photo block on top, added an exact-match hockey stick sticker that's pointed in the other direction, and placed a Bubble Brad on top. I love that the stickers and papers coordinate for techniques like this!

What do you REALLY need at a hockey game? Something that makes you LOUDER!! Our boys have cowbells just like these that they love to ring when cheering on the home team. I bought an extra one and decorated it with stickers and images cut from Hockey patterned papers. I tied on a little Scrappers Spools for fun. The card has several images cut from papers, stickers layered with pop dots, and the Hockey Lil' Stack.

Next up, Curling! I had to call in my Canadian pal, Jeanette, to rustle up some photos for me. Thanks, Nette! I cut a large circle from one patterned paper to mimic the curling stone and scoring ring.

Again, I layered my sticker title block with LOTS of embellishments including some Double O Pizzazz Brads in black.

I also upscaled an oversized notepad holder I bought at a dollar store. I covered it, inside and out, with Curling papers and stickers. I even covered the pencil!

Of course I got the Brothers collection! No, I didn't take these photos to match the paper. I lucked out and found a snapshot of the boys from 2009 that had exactly the right colors! I used papers and stickers from this collection as well as Scrappers Spools, Crazy Coil Brads, Swirl Burst Brads, and a Bubbles Fancy Frame. (Click on any photo for a closer look.)

Aren't these embellishments just awesome? I ♥ Swirl Burst Brads!!


I also made a card using this collection. You've gotta love the extra guitar on there!

Next up - Twins! There are adorable patterns in this collection, the stripes and dots are my favorite. Here's a card using critters cut from one patterned paper and many of the KFD embellishments I use often.

I also decorated a mirror using the Twins collection. Special thanks to my pal, Shavaughn, our DT coordinator at KFD for both of these Twins project photos! She edited out the portion in the center of the mirror so you could concentrate on the decorations. It was fun to use the papers, stickers, and embellishments on a project like this!

Today we are featuring our new Military collection. I was honored to make this album for my friend Marti and her husband Major Bruce Drake. I suspended the dog tag stickers from our Classy Loopy Bradlines (metallic finish) using Scrapper Spools. (Click on any photo for a closer look.)

You can see the dimension on the dog tags here more closely. They are lifted using pop dots.

I used every single paper and sticker from this collection on the mini album, changing up the focus and placement of the products depending on their importance.

Here I added a few Jumbo Coil Brads for decoration.

I repeated the use of dog tags on this page but used a real ball chain and clasp.

I love including personal notes and ephemera on layouts and in mini albums, and our String Enclosure Treasure Keepers are perfect for that. My ten year old son wrote a personal thank you note to Major Drake, and we tucked it inside the pocket.

One week from today we'll gather the names of four lucky folks who left comments throughout our CHA sneak peek event. Each person will receive a bonus prize pack of five stamp sets! Here are just a few projects that I have made using KFD stamps. (Click any photo for a closer look.)


This reindeer card and Santa (below) were made using the Holiday Clear Stamp Set. Santa's beard and hat trim were stamped onto felt for fun texture. Look closely - I even made him some tiny wire glasses!


You've gotta love baby cards! Both of these cards were stamped using the Baby Clear Stamp set. The little girl has an outfit that was stamped onto fuzzy felt and embellished with some bling. Stamping on kraft paper and using Prismacolor pencils was a great way to get rich color on the baby boy card.


This layout features the Hope Strength Courage Clear Stamp Set. I stamped the "Survivor" sentiment right on the bottom photo and the patterned heart on the grosgrain ribbon.


My final stamped project to share today highlights the Thanksgiving Clear Stamp Set. I loved creating my own background paper to color as well as stamped twill ribbon.

I received the Best Friends collection and created several projects. Let's start with a card! (Click on any photo for a closer look.) The stickers do all the work on this little beauty. I layered the sentiment sticker on two colors of cardstock matting and embellished with a Swirl Burst brad. *swoon* I could seriously have EVERY color of these gems and not have enough. LOVE!!

I folded the little butterfly stickers in half and adhered them to create a border. I love how their fluttering wings and position create such movement on the card. The colors just make me happy!

One of my personal goals for this year is to upcycle containers whenever I can. A friend handed me this long metal case over a year ago, and I decided to turn it into a Best Friends pencil case. I covered the entire box, inside and out, with different papers from this collection.

I had a small "Eureka!" moment when playing with this collection. It includes darling metal insects with magnets, and I decided to further embellish them to make pencil case toppers that double as toys! Each magnet has a cardstock circle as the base and is decorated with Birthstone Brads, Scrappers Spools, Swirl Burst brads, stickers and more paper from the Best Friends collection. Because they are magnets, you can move them around on the top of the box or even move them to another metal surface. I really had fun making these!

Of course I had to make a layout with this collection. Here's a preschool photo of my oldest son and his buddy at our local zoo. The boys are 10 1/2 now, but I love the way this photo captured their absolute joy of being together. I used four different patterned papers, the Stacked Title, Scrappers Spools, Crazy Coil brads, and two String Enclosure Treasure Keepers. I just love these clear pockets for holding handwritten notes, tickets, or other ephemera that match your photos.

What coach couldn't use a little thank you? Here's a card featuring new Basketball papers and stickers. (Click on all photos for a closer look.) I lined up several colors of Crazy Coil brads to make borders around the Alphabet Sticker sentiment. The 3D whistle with real twine looks almost real enough to use!

Here' a gift that Coach will certainly remember! I took a plain clipboard and Mod Podged two Basketball collections papers to it. I followed the printed design on the court paper when cutting to create the divider between the two papers. I added one sticker in the lower left corner and a Slam Dunk Lil' Stack embellishment to the clip. I think it's just enough to look finished without being too fussy. You can't have crafty stuff getting in the way of the big game!

For kicks I decided to alter a mechanical pencil to add to the clipboard. I chose a pencil that was already orange so that I didn't have to totally cover it with paper. I added Basketball paper and created a twisted string from several colors of Scrappers Spools. It's a fun way to make sure that there's always a pencil handy when Coach is using the clipboard.

Here's a sweet little jar candle that I decorated with a Wedding collection Stacked Border sticker. (Click on all photos for a closer look.) All the work is done for you with these little babies - there's glitter, bling, bows, tulle, you name it! I started by wrapping the jar with one strip of patterned paper, added a cardstock band for stability, and wrapped the Stacked Border around it. I had to move one embellishment on the sticker in order to hide the seam, but it looks amazing! I secured the entire thing with a rubber band while I added a little extra clear gel glue and let it finish drying. I tied some silver ribbon around the neck of the jar and added a solitaire April Birthstone brad as the crowning jewel, literally! These little jars would look amazing all lit up at a wedding reception or could go home as favors at a bridal shower or wedding, too.

Next up is a wedding layout. Ahh, there are several sheets in this collection with distressed, muted patterns in black, white, and grey that are FABULOUS! I see myself using them on all kinds of projects, not just wedding. I started with one of those as my layout base. I used my Cricut and the Storybook cartridge to cut out a large heart, which I then backed with a different sheet of patterned paper. The lovebirds and gifts were cut from yet ANOTHER patterned paper. (Did I mention how many papers are in this collection?) Pop dots and Stickles are a must for me, so there's plenty on there as well. Look for the THIN-ment heart and enamel bouquet brad. The details are what make this special!

Check out this fun little detail. I highlighted my sticker title with a custom ribbon border made from an older collection of KFD Prom Trimmings. It's black and white and perfect to mix in! And there's one of my two favorite brads from KFD, this one's the Classy Brad in black and white.

Welcome to our two-week sneak peek at products that Karen Foster Design will debut at the CHA 2012 Winter show. To celebrate this release the Design Team will be hosting a giveaway contest on our blogs where you can enter to win prize packs that match each day’s theme(s).

Today we are introducing two collections - one for the boys, and one for the girls. Since I have two sons, it was an absolute necessity that I got a chance to design with our new Robots collection. It is incredibly cool!

First up is a layout I made using photos from our recent trip to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Their robots exhibit was really fun. Click on any photo for a closer look.

I die cut some chipboard gears and embossed them in silver. I used five kinds of KFD brads to embellish this. A little turquoise crafter's wire felt like the finishing touch.

How cute is this card? I have a feeling that it will find its way to a little boy birthday party inthe near future. I used the top portion of the spacescape sheet of paper, added some pop-dotted stickers and Scrappers Spools, then topped it all off with Stardust Stickles.

The big doozie of a project for this collection is this amazing Robot clock. I started with a $3 clock from Goodwill (the price tag is still on the back!) and altered it to be out of this world! I cut a small hole in the center of the paper used on the clock face and carefully cut around one of the robots to create a place to slip the hands through. It took me several tries, but once I got it...I really loved it!! Lots more KFD embellishments and Stickles were added to finish things up. My son has already laid claim to this project for his bedroom. I love that I can make my kids happy with crafting!
